Jess Green (born March 24, 1939) was mayor of American Fork, Utah between 1994 to 1998. Green was born in American Fork, Utah and attended American Fork High School, Brigham Young University (BA in English/Spanish), and attended the University of Utah School of Law for two years. He served a church mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in the North Central States and Canada. Green also served in the Airborne 19th Special Forces Group. He graduated from Artillery Officers’ School in Oklahoma, Parachute School in Georgia, Helicopter Maintenance School in Alabama, and Mountaineering School in Alaska.〔("Mayoral Race could shake up American Fork panels" ). ''Deseret Morning News''. 27 September 1993〕 Prior to his service as mayor, Green spent 16 years on the American Fork Planning Commission, was a City Councilman, and spent significant time helping to develop the Central Utah Project for northern Utah County. In the September 2009 he and three others advanced in the primary election, but he lost in the November General Election. Mayor Green married the former Sondra Read in 1971. They are the parents of six children and ten grandchildren. He is employed as an administrative aide at American Fork Junior High School, and is a rare book dealer in his spare time. At American Fork Junior High school, he is affectionately known as the Tic-Tac man. #TicTacTuesdays He is also known as the lunch room king at American Fork Junior High.
